End of Public Consultation on the bill entitled “The Electricity Market Regulation (Amending) Law of 2018”
On January 11, 2018, the Public Consultation concerning the draft law entitled “The Electricity Market Regulation (Amendment) Law 2018” for the amendment of the Electricity Market Regulation of 2003 to 2017 was terminated . The results of the public consultation are posted on the Energy Services website.
Electricity – Bill amending the Electricity Market Regulation Laws 2003 to 2017
The purpose of the proposed law is to amend the Electricity Market Regulations of 2003 to 2017 for partial harmonization with Directive 2009/72 / EC on common rules for the purchase of electricity, namely:
1) Article 37 Paragraph 12 of the Directive, which was not transposed in Harmonized Law 211 (I) / 2012, and
2) Article 3 Paragraph 3 Subsection 2 of the Directive in order to grant the right to an electricity company which operates the electricity supply, in addition to the Electricity Authority of Cyprus, to be designated by the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority as the “ultimate supplier”.
The bill was put to public consultation from 14 December 2017 to 11 January 2018. Two (2) persons / organizations submitted comments.
